It was the first day of Summer when I logged onto Animal Jam. I didn't care about this real world, much less about the nice weather and the perfect amount of cool breeze outside. It was my first year of Animal Jam and my first time at the Summer Carnival.
The game seemed more laggy than usual. I impatiently tried to spin the daily wheel, and with luck I got the present box. I checked my mail and was disappointed to see a member-only item. I was just a lousy non-member.
Finally reaching the Summer Carnival, I noticed a non-member sloth with the username NICE. It was in all caps and the sloth was completely white with the curved pupil less eyes. It was covered with red thumbs-up marks. Curious to see how he got the patterns and was able to be a non member sloth, I quickly buddied him.
He didn't accept.
That was okay, I could deal with that. I asked, "How did you get those markings? How are you a non-member sloth?"
Suddenly, NICE got extremely large and filled up my whole screen and suddenly shrunk to really small before returning to his normal size. Could be a glitch, but it seemed odd. "NICE wants a new necklace! NICE will tell SHEEPBOY if SHEEPBOY gets NICE necklace!"
Sheepboy? I guess he was referring to me, but I'm not a boy. Or a sheep, for that matter. "Fine," I typed. "But you have to tell me how you got those markings."
I bought a necklace but decided to take a break and chat with my AJ boyfriend. NICE suddenly appeared, and my boyfriend left.
"NICE WANTS NECKLACE!" he said.
I locked my den. He was still there.
"SHEEPBOY ALWAYS GOES BACK ON HIS WORD! NICE HATES SHEEPBOY!"
I froze. What in the world...
Nice got bigger and then smaller. He suddenly kept changing colors over and over again. "SHEEPBOY must be neutered!"
I tried logging out, I tried clicking out, I tried shutting off my computer. I let out a sigh of relief when my computer finally shut down. Afterwards, I went onto my parent dashboard and locked my account. I let my computer shut down for a while. Then it happened.
My screen turned gray, then black, then gray, then black. Then NICE appeared in the middle of the screen. I couldn't find the cursor. I couldn't shut down the computer. I instead watched in horror.
"NICE wants to have a party!"
"NICE will have a carnival! NICE knows how much SHEEPBOY loves carnivals!" NICE was in a doctor's suit and my animal, a pig, was on the ground, helpless. I tried clicking some more. My computer then started spamming inappropriate ads over and over again, with "You have a virus" alert on the bottom of my screen. Then a disgusting video popped up.
There were a bunch of blurry red thumbs squirting out blood constantly, and I was tempted to tell my parents but they were out for the day. The red thumbs kept squirting blood all over my pig, and then more disturbing images arrived.
"Nice is a wolf among sheep." was all over my computer. The thumbs had poorly written words repeating it over and over. I started to cry when NICE pretended to neuter my pig. The pig let out squealing noises as NICE turned into a cartoon doctor. Bloodied thumbs covered my screen. The cartoon doctor moved in circles without moving his limbs, just going around the screen with all the nasty images. Another video of men dressed in sheep suits popped up. They were all trying to reach out towards the screen, and the doctor picked up a bucket and drenched them in my pig's blood.
"SHEEPBOYS NEVER GO BACK ON THEIR PROMISES," they said.
