A young fox trotted around the meadow as she felt her fur bristle up when the wind swam through her fur. The young vixen squinted as she looked at the sky, her eyes were sensitive to the warming light of the sun. Her mother was watching her daughter play in swaying grass. The tiny vixen watched a butterfly land on a tulip. She crouched low to the ground with a smirk on her face and leaped towards the butterfly. The fox had a surprised expression as the butterfly gracefully flew away. She was motivated and kept trying. Her mother called out "Daisy! come to the den, its time for lunch!" Daisy grunted at the butterfly and ran to her den. She slipped into her home where her mother had prepared a rabbits stew. Daisy's mother poured the stew into the wood bowls and spread herbs over each pot. Daisy sat down on the mat and began to drink the broth. It was warm against her tongue and tasted wonderful. She continued eating and tasted the tenderness of the meat, the crunch of the carrots. Daisy finished her stew and licked the bowl clean. "Thank you mama, the meal was tasty." she said as she gazed up at her mom. Her mother smiled "I'm glad you liked it, now go play." Daisy trotted out of the den to roll around. Daisy's mother watched her go out as she rubbed her stomach, Daisy had no idea that she would have a sister in a couple of days.

Three days passed as little Daisy rolled around in the meadow and gazed at every flower. She was only eight years old and still had a pure and innocent heart. "Daisy, i wish to tell you something." Her mother soothed. Daisy galloped to her mother. "yes mama?" she replied. "your going to have a sister, in only a few days" Her mother said. Daisy squealed "yay! sissy!" Daisy's mother smiled " i'm glad your exited. Daisy nuzzled her and kissed her mother's stomach. Her mother laughed. "you'll be a wonderful big sister." Daisy ran out of the den but stopped for a split second for she had forgotten to ask if she could go out to play. she looked back at her mother and before she could say a peep, Daisy's mother had known what she was about to say and nodded her head. Daisy ran out of the den and felt pain when she had ran straight into something. Daisy got up and shook her head, when she had perked her head up, she saw another fox. "Sorry about that" he said. "oh your fine, whats your name?" Daisy questioned. "My names Farren, whats yours?" he replied. "Daisy" she peeped. "well its nice to meet you" Farren smiled. "you too" said Daisy. When she was she was just about to go, Farren's voice stopped her in her tracks. "actually, would you like to hang out, i dont have much to do." he perked. "sure, i'd love that." said Daisy as she followed Farren. The two raced each other to the meadow, Daisy won and laughed. The two walked to a patch of grass to catch their breath. Once Farren had caught up on oxygen, he tagged Daisy "Tag, your it!" He said as he dashed away. Daisy grinned and chased after him. The two foxes played tag for hours. They laid next to each other and looked at the clouds together. After cloud watching, it got dark and Daisy's mother was calling her for dinner. Both foxes sighed and looked to the ground. Daisy hugged Farren and said "today was fun, and you know what?" Farren looked at her "what?" Daisy gave him her paw to hold "we are officially friends." She said while shaking his hand. Both foxes smiled. They said their goodbyes, hoping they would see each other again.

Daisy came home smiling. "So, I see you've made a new friend, he seems nice." Daisy's mother said. "Yeah, his name is Farren." Daisy said back. Her mother gave her a kiss on the head and served Daisy a warm chicken pot pie. After she had finished her meal, she went to bed as her mother tucked her in and turned off her lamp. Daisy thought about her new friend hoping that they would meet again. The joyful thought of Farren put her straight to sleep.

Daisy woke up and stretched. She rubbed her tired eyes and went to the kitchen for breakfast. Steam cam from the pots where her mother had made eggs and pancakes. Daisy sniffed the air and smelled the sweet aroma of the pancakes. Her mother served her the breakfast and tasted the sweet, warm, soft substance of the pancakes. Daisy finished breakfast, and asked her mother if she could go out and play early. Her mother approved and Daisy dashed out of the den. She smiled remembering when she ran into Farren. She slinked out of the den and immediately started to look for Farren. Daisy sniffed around, but she stopped her frantic search when she saw glistening red fur and a silhouette of a fox, she came running after it. She leaped into Farren with a forceful squeeze. Farren was very surprised at this motion but as soon as he knew it was Daisy, he felt gleeful. "i'm so happy that i get to see you again!" Exclaimed Daisy. "Me too!" replied Farren. The two walked across the magnificent meadow while they chatted away. As they were talking, They both were interrupted by the screech of Daisy's mother. Daisy's ears perked straight up. "Hurry! Come on Farren!" She shouted in a worried tone. They dashed toward Daisy's den. The two foxes squeezed into the home and saw a tiny, infant fox cradled in her mother's paws. Daisy was speechless. She starred at her new tiny sister. She walked slowly over to the infant and smiled. Daisy licked its tiny face. "I wanted you to name her, darling" Her mother said. It didn't take barely a second for her to think of a name "Lilly" Said Daisy. "Lilly it is."smiled her mother. "Come here Farren." Daisy called. He nervously trotted over. But he felt a grin starting to cover his face at the sight of the tiny being. "Can Farren spend the night? Please!" begged Daisy. "Can I?" asked Farren excitedly. "well.... I suppose so, as long as your parents approve." Said Daisy's mother. "I dont have any parents..." He said in a soft tone. Farren started to tear up and his voice cracked "I.. live... with m-my br-brothers." He buried his face into Daisy's shoulder. There was a moment of silence. Daisy's mother finally said "Of coarse you can stay, Sweetie." Farren dried up his tears and thanked her. "I'll get some dinner going." Daisy's mother said softly. The two foxes, with their tails down, slowly walked out of the den. "I'm so sorry for you, Farren." Farren looked at her. "It's alright, your a great friend." The foxes cheered each other up and started to play again. They played for hours and had dinner. Normally at this time, they would be going to bed. But Daisy's mother had something planned for the two.

"Daisy, Farren!" Her mother called. The foxes ran over to her mother and saw a graceful fire burning. Daisy's mother handed out sticks and marshmallows. The young foxes faces lit up. They placed the marshmallows on the sticks and rested them over the fire. Daisy's mother was as far away from the smoke so that the baby wouldn't be harmed. She wrapped Lilly in a blanket and set her on a chair while she set up a tent for the young ones to sleep in. The young foxes laughed together and soon became very tired and started to yawn. They set down the marshmallow sticks and un-zipped the tent. Daisy and Farren slipped into their sleeping bags and fell asleep. Both smiling at the thought of each other.

Daisy woke up and got out of her sleeping bag. Shortly after, Farren did the same. They walked out of the tent. Daisy went inside with Farren following her. "Hello mother." Daisy said. "Good morning you two." Her mother responded. She had cups of blueberry's and plates of sausage. "Ok, I have to get a few things in the forest, if you need me, i'll be close by." She said as she served the dishes and kissed Daisy's head. "Bye mama." They began eating breakfast and went outside to play. As they walked out, three butterflies had landed on a flower. Daisy looked at them in wonder. "let's see if we can catch them." Exclaimed Daisy as she pounced. They both were eager to catch one. Farren leaped after the monarch and Daisy chased the swallowtail. When they were after the two butterflies, the third one had gotten out of sight. They were now down to two. Daisy had almost got the butterfly she was after but it flew higher. She started to jump and strained her arm to go high. Farren tried to pounce on the monarch but it flew faster. The foxes tried so hard to catch the butterflies but only failed. All of the sudden, they heard an ear piercing bang. The whole world went cold, time froze. A loud scream was cut off after the bang had ended. A dead fox body fell into the grass. Daisy's heart stopped beating. The wind stopped. Daisy could no longer speak. That fox body was her mother. Daisy hardly even knew what sadness was, but she had to learn the hardest way. She now knew what grief was. Her knees buckled, her head felt light, her eyes were blurry. The happiness in her soul drained out of her body and drifted far away. The world seemed like it was going so slow. After all of these strange feelings, something snapped. She screamed with tears streaming down her cheeks like and endless waterfall. Farren had no idea what to say, he just stood still. Daisy ran to her mother sobbing over her corpse. After an hour of Daisy's crying, Farren had awoken from the sleep he fell into. Daisy ran to Farren and squeezed him with all of her might. She still hadn't gotten over her mothers death but some of her happiness came back to her soul when she hugged Farren. Both of them started to cry. With Farren around, Daisy will never forget her mother, but she will have a cheerful life.

7 years later[]

Daisy was now fifteen and Lilly was now seven and Daisy had to the best she could to act as a mother for Lilly. "Sis, I dont really like these blueberries you gave me, their too bitter!" complained Lilly. "Your so picky." sighed Daisy as she took away the dish of blueberries. Farren came into the den "Hey guys!" he said cheerfully. "Farren! it's so good to see you!" Daisy said while hugging him. "Hi Farren!" Lilly peeped. Daisy served him breakfast. "Go off and play, Lilly." She went out of the den to take a nap in the grass. Farren looked like he had something to say. But Daisy hardly noticed. "So, how are your brothers? You've never really told me about them." asked Daisy. "My oldest brother is 20 and the middle brother is 18. Their names are James and Codi." Farren replied. "Also, um, I wondered if, uh, maybe you'd like to go on a walk with me tonight." he nervously said. "I'd love that!" Daisy peeped. "Yes!" Farren whispered to himself. "Well I better get my chores done." Daisy said while putting the dishes in the sink. "Do you need any help?" Farren asked. "Well, i'd hate to have you do something you don't want to do." She spoke. "I'll do anything for you." he blushed. "Ok, I'll wash the dishes and you can dry them, we can work right next to each other." Daisy smiled. "Sounds great." agreed Farren. The two laughed together just like they did when they were only eight years old. After an hour of chores and talking, Lilly came back in. "Hey sis, Can i spend the night at may's house?" She asked. "Only if you have already called." Daisy responded. "I did and shes going to pick me up." Lilly said like it was obvious. It got later and May and her mother had picked up Lilly. It was almost time for the walk.

Farren went home to get ready. Daisy briefly brushed her fur, she didn't feel like she really had to get ready, just to go on a walk with a friend. On the other hand, Farren rushed around, combed his fur, sprayed cologne, and clipped his claws. He spent a bunch of time fixing himself up. When he got out of his room, James was standing there. "what ya getting all fancy for?" He asked. "Nothing!" Farren huffed. James patted his back and grinned. "We'll talk about later, good luck." Farren smirked and went out of his den. He rushed to Daisy where she had on a back pack and two bikes. "Ready?" Daisy asked. "Ready as I'll ever be." Farren said. They rode their bikes to the trail and began to walk. "It's beautiful out here." Daisy said while breathing in a deep breath. "Yeah." Farren said as he nervously tried to hold her hand. He finally had a hold of Daisy's hand. But Daisy took it as a friendly gesture. "Let's sit her and look up at the stars." Daisy said while putting down a blanket. They both sat. Daisy pointed out the constellations. Farren couldn't stop looking at her. Daisy's emerald green eyes sparkled in the moon's light. Farren felt something he had never felt before. It was a burst of happiness flowing into his beating heart. He felt so many emotions towards Daisy. All he focused on was the beautiful Vixen he had once been best friends with and had new feelings for. Daisy finally looked at Farren. "are you Ok?" she asked. Farren smiled. "You are the most beautiful fox I have ever laid my eyes on." Daisy paused. Everything was slow, just like when her mother died. She never knew that her childhood best friend would end up liking her. She suddenly felt love for Farren. Daisy blushed so hard that you could see her face in the dark. Farren could tell what she was thinking. They both looked into each other's eyes and felt happier than they had ever felt before. Farren's hand brushed across Daisy's check and pulled her closer. That was when they both leaned in to have their very first kiss under the stars.

It started to rain Daisy and Farren got off the blanket and started running to their houses Farren placed his arm over Daisy's head, he walked her all the way home. They got to the porch and Farren kissed her goodnight. Daisy went into the house and started giggling and twirling around. She felt so happy after she had spent time with Farren. Daisy got her self ready for bed. She leaped onto her mattress and thought of Farren until her happy thoughts drifted her off to sleep.

Farren ran home to find Codi at the door saying "Farren's got a girlfriend! Farren's got a girlfriend!" But Farren completely ignored him as he was still shocked about the kiss. James winked at him as he walked by. Farren went to his room and just started laughing. Thinking about how he fell in love with his childhood best friend, and how she loved him back. James came into his room and sat on Farren's bed. "So how did it go." he asked. Farren looked at him with overflowing glee. "We kissed." James looked quite shocked. "Well, I guess it was more than just a walk in the woods." James laughed. "So, whats her name?" He asked. Farren happily sighed "Daisy." Both of them smiled. "Well im glad your happy with this one." James said while he sat up from Farren's bed.
