Klepin scratched at the egg shell, ready to hatch. The shell wouldn't crack. He tried again, scratching furiously at the shell. The egg rolled over, hitting some thorns which cracked the egg open - and out came Klepin. Screeching, he nearly hit the thorns, but managed to get back on the bit of earth that his egg once stood on. Klepin was scared now - a hatchling is vulnerable and thus can be hurt easily.
